On November 24th 2017, Ramin Irani successfully defended his PhD thesis: “Computer Vision-Based Methods for Detectin and Measurement of Psychophysiological Indicators”.
Sergio Escalera Guerrero has been appointed honorary associate professor at the Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technology at the Technical Faculty of IT and Design at Aalborg University.

On December 8th 2016, Huamin Ren successfully defended her PhD thesis: “Understanding behaviors in video – from feature extraction to sparse representation and deep neural networks for classification”.

On March 1st 2016, Rasmus Skovgaard Andersen successfully defended his PhD thesis: “Facilitating Programming of Vision‐Equipped Robots through Robotic Skills and Projection Mapping”.
Rasmus has been supervised by Ole Madsen, head of the Robotics and Automation group, and Thomas Moeslund, head of Visual Analysis of People lab.
Two VGIS master students are developing computer vision solutions for automatic detection of people falling into the harbour. Their test recordings were covered by Danish TV:
On November 26th 2015, Andreas Møgelmose successfully defended his PhD thesis: “Visual Analysis in Traffic & Re-identification”.
Andreas will continue in our lab as a PostDoc.
